Monty Python Life Of Brian

In class we watched Monty Pythons Life of Brian and had to decide wheather or not we found it shocking personally or if anyone else would.

What ways can "Life of Brian" be viewed as a shocking text?
Bringing religion and cultures into a movie is a very risky business as people do care deeply about what they believe in. The film it self does not actually laugh in the face of religion or christianity which is true and you notice this if you watch the film. But for people who are strongly religious they would argue to the end that this is laughing about Jesus Christ.

Does it shock you?
No not at all. This is only because i am totally not religious at all! I'm not against religion but i believe part of the meaning of the film is true. I understand what they are trying to say in the film and i think they have made a great and comical movie out of it!

My Shocking Scene!

My shocking scene i have chosen is the First attack scene in JAWS! This scene scared the absolute CRAP out of me when i watched it. I believe i was about 11 or 12 when i first set my eyes on it. The reason i think i found this so shocking was the way in which the female victim was thrown about in such an agressive manner. It was just for me, SO REALISTIC! I THOUGHT IT WAS REAL! SNUFF YOU MIGHT SAY! I have always been slightly scared of swimming right out to sea, so this obviously didn't help the whole situation! Also the music which was composed by John Williams really added to the whole effect and mise en scene. All together, it seriously shocked me! Still got it sitting in the back of my mind when im out having a swim!
